did u guyz get thru emissions and inspection ok? wat are the laws here in NJ? did u decide to cover your turbo under ins.?

 

I haven't had to try yet, but I plan on paying my way through.

well, when i get the turbo...im never going to go to inspection again
cause i won't pass visual or emissions

i still got 2 years though....probably get another car by then

What part of the turbo fails? Just curious? Say we pass the sniffer, and all intakes are filter and the wastegate is closed loop and the pcv is closed and all that fancy crap.....what actually fails?

My friend with his 240sx with SR20DET passed everything for state inspection except the NO2 emissions i think it was. He think its might have something to do with his cat or o2 sensor though. He had no problem with any visual inspection though and that car doesnt come stock with a turbo, i dont even think they check under your hood anymore.

technically, it's considered illegal to have any addition to the stock exhaust system. A turbo sitting in front of the downpipe is considered an addition.....

 

They don't check under the hood in NJ. I've never had them look under the hood unless it's something new. I don't have a turbo but am considering one for the summer. Anyone with a turbo in NJ fail emissioins?

 

NOx and all that jazzz...and i only know that the greddy can pass "as-is" cause of its internal wastegate


outside visual.....orange corners, height, everything in working order....

oh yeah, if u fail emissions u still get 2 weeks or soo to fix it...no big deal

 

Believe it or not. A turbo car with a basic bolt on kit could pass with a couple of tricks done to make it pass.
Trust me on this one and they don't pop hoods in the nj inspection station. So visual wouldn't be a problem.

Its all abotu who u know. Find someone who knows someone who runs a gas station with a dyno, and hand them a fat tip. Get someone else with a stock integra put it on the yno and look the other way... if you dont know anyone i can see what i can do.
