Default Should i boost or spray my 98 gsr

hey guys my current setup is a stock 98 gsr (b18c1) with 60k miles and 4-2-1 racing headers, and striaght piping with aeroswpeed exhaust.
I was thinking of boosting it 10lbs, mostly with stock parts except bigger injectors and probably skunk cam gears.
But some people have told me
it is not good to boost these vtec engines,
they say trow a 100 shot of wet spray and that should have me running.

What do u guys suggest. I mean turbo requires more $$$ and engine upgrades, especaily since i have to lower the compression. but theres nothing like a boosted car.

That's like asking if you should get a strut tower bar or a rollcage. Do you want to spend a couple hundred on nitrous or a couple thousand on a turbo set up? Turbo obviously has incredible potential, and whoever told you that you shouldn't turbo a VTEC engine is retarded.

ok is it ture that a 100 shot of nos, is like adding 100 hp. so in cense would i'll be at 240whp with a nitrous setup.

ok if i do happen to go boost. what are minor engine upgrades i can do to add on a custom homemade turbo kit.

i measn is it nessary to get fuel pump, lower the compression, cam gears and all that other ****.

If you're going to be a cheapskate just go with nitrous. Building a boosted motor with any sort of reliability isn't about "what can I go without?". If you don't upgrade the fuel I guarantee the motor will die quickly. I recommend you read this:

http://www.beesandgoats.com/bo....html

It was written for 90-93 integra owners but the majority of the information is applicable to hondas in general.

to boost the right way, you need a means of making sure you don't lean out up top... so in short you will need to add an FMU (fuel management unit) to your list of turbo parts, which is kind of like a rising rate fuel pressure regulator but usually cheaper than buying a new rail and regulator and all that fun stuff. what this does is hooks to your fuel return line and run off the vacuum of your fuel pressure regulator and under boost it holds more pressure in the fuel rail by letting less fuel return to the tank.

don't shoot me if this your car is a non fuel return car, cause most of them are, only recent one i know that isn't is my SRT4 which they make kits to return fuel...

but nitrous is hard on engines... a prime example is the mitsubishi 4G94 engine. you can boost it, but as soon as you run nos say good bye to your engine... seriously... they're not noted to last much longer than a month or 2 on nitrous...

Go boost. I wouldn't run more than 8psi on stock internals. My planned setup is Turbonetics t3/t4, HKS BOV, Hondata, 8psi on stock internals. I have a zex kit I am going to hook up to the intercooler (if i don't sell it first). And of course bigger injectors. From what I hear Skunk 2 turbo cams or stock type R cams are good for turbo. Just my $.02

i would definately look into pistons and rods for your setup too. you will have a little bit more piece of mine, and u can have ur 10lbs no problem with this.

Tuning is the key though. Stock gsr internals can be pushed to the limits (not to far though) with a great tune. They wont last too long though but u get the point. U can use hondata or uberdata. i prefer uberdata cause most likely ill be tuning my own stuff and ill learn alot more too

You can run more than 10 pounds on a stock gsr with no problems. It's all in the tuning. I wouldn't do nitrous because with all the money you are going to be spending to fill the bottle, you will have paid for a turbo kit in not that much time at all.

agreed haven't seen stock gsr's boost 10lbs. i'd boost just 6lbs to be on the safe side.
