... acceptable to do intensive tuning? Search server is down.

I read "do alot of tuning" on lots of threads regarding all sorts of set-ups. Do they mean just using a piggyback unit to adjust fuel curves or does it require better and more intensive software/hardware?

Depends on what's able to be tuned in your area, how much work you have done, and how much you want to spend.

For a wild setup, something like AEM EMS or similar will completely replace your stock ECM and has just about unlimited tuning abilities.

Piggybacks such as Hondata (I don't care to argue about it today, in my eyes, it is a piggyback) have less ability to control fuel and timing curves, but are much more common to tuners, and in turn easier to get tuned well.

Yeah, I was thinking Hondata or e-Manage, this dude at Full-Race said Neptune was real good was less common, I'm in the midwest, not exactly the tuning capital of the world.

Never heard of Neptune. I have the E-Manage and like it. I know pleny of people who swear by the Hondata. If you would like to save some money, go with Uberdata. I have quite a few friends who run it and I've ridden in a few cars using it. If I were OBDI I'd run Uberdata.

Is Uberdata something that requires a shop or is it something I could meet some HT members with software and a laptop and go? (I am OBD1)

dude, if your motor is stock. dont spend the cash where you dont need to.

Hondata s200 is a completely tunable unit, but its pointless if your motor isnt capable of putting out the power.

EDIT: AEM EMS=

it's just something I needed to know for down the road, it's all a progression and I want to have a bit of strategy before I just start buying parts

You can do it yourself with a computer, a chip burner, and a socketed ECU.

And about your signature, it really is a second generation B16, not a B16A2. That was in the 96-97 Del Sol VTEC and the 99-00 Civic SI.
