help me with a turbo
here's a tip... if you're nearly a dumb as you're seeming to be.. it would be a pretty bad idea to turbo your honda because you'll just get bent over at every shop you _need_ to go to.
don't worry about speed, it really doesn't seem as if you deserve it...
just do the world a favour and take the bus

Just do some searching and you will find lots of us that have had great sucess with boosted Si motors. I reccomend building your own kit if you have the knowledge and some friends that can help. Good luck.
yeah a lot of us have been having a lot of success with Si motors. Just look around in the FI forums and that will help you out a lot. But i do reccomend that you do a lot of research on turbos before you just go head first in it and waste a lot of money.

folta: do not justify this with a response. He wants to be superior, let him think he is.

actually he makes a great point, you shouldnt be buying a turbo if you dont know how to put it on yourself, mainly in case anything severe happens. I just finished doing my first turbo install on my b16 crx and it was very overwhelming, ive been working on hondas alot for almost 3 years, and i still found it somewhat difficult. Unless this kids parents have alot of money to bail him out, that or if he has a ton of money i would recommend him doing alot more research instead of just coming here and asking " what do i need to turbo my 1.6 si"
since your obviously new to this i would recommend getting a greddy sohc kit, im sure you could find one with the intercooler for a little more than 1500 in the classifieds.

just do some research, the FI forum is great for learning stuff, homemadeturbo.com as mentioned before (a few of them popped their motors), i don't know everything either, but i'm trying to learn, and a good way to do that is to search for stuff and talk to some people.

Yes i did know you were replying to the kid with attitude, the kid with attitude is 100% right in my opinion, if you dont know enough about turbo to know what you need, then you shouldnt be getting it, otherwise your going to get raped on the cost of parts and installation, and repairs, Unless this kid has a ton of money or is sponsored by mom and dad, he shouldnt be getting a turbo.

You'll probably know more. I have both those books, and they're great. Looking at the homemadeturbo site will give you an idea of how easy it is to blow up a motor with a turbo. They just can't seem to hold that **** together...
http://www.homemadeturbo.com/t...a_crx/
Thats my favorite, blowing it up on 3 psi.
Read EVERYTHING, learn all you can about motors, and in the end, you'll be able to decide for yourself what you need, and tell other people their setup is ****.

both are great sites.

for god sake man stop explaining the same **** to me. I got it before you said it..
It was just out of line to give him **** instead of making an actual suggestion. 89s1 got a serious attitude problem, whether he was right about the topic or not.

Hey there Mike (folta), I think you might want to pick up a magazine or check some local shops because you obviously aren't going to get any help here. Just a bunch of snotty-*** punk kids with elitist attitudes who were apparently BORN with complete knowledge of everything Honda and Turbo.
I apologize for some of the reactions on here, occasionally you find someone who has something constructive to say, but more often it's becoming some dumb-*** comment. I mean it's like saying if you don't know how to build an airplane you don't deserve to fly in one. Kiss my *** you stupid bitch! So the poor guy want's an opinion on what turbos people recommend! Is that too much to ask? You don't know the first thing about this guy, maybe he's loaded! Maybe he's not some pimple-faced dork teenager with a pipe-dream and no clue. I have a nice Civic Si and I have considered going turbo. Do you think I give 2 ***** how to install it? Hell no! I'll pay someone to do it for me because I am not a mechanic. I can do mechanical stuff, I have replaced several engines, and have done tons of mods to lots of cars. Now that I am busy making money at my real job I would just as well pay someone who enjoys doing mechanics for a living.
SO BACK OFF **** HEAD!
-off soap box-
I would bitch folta out for not searching but I know how jacked up the search on this board is at times and he was being called stupid for not knowing, not for not searching better.

Of course, all boxybutfast did was add fuel to the already growing flame fest this is.
There is a short answer to this question; you'll need a turbo manifold, down-pipe, turbo, charge pipe and the appropriate water/oil lines for your turbo to stay alive. Depending upon the boost and condition of your engine this setup may or may not last very long. Step ups include intercooling and fuel management, these will prolong the life of your engine and increase the amount of power you are able to make.
Thats the short answer and the least detailed. You'll need to do more research because doing a custom turbo job requires it, there are a lot of different setups, it cannot be summed up into a few words, hell it can't even be completed in a single book. So the links and books that the others have posted will help immensely.
If you don't feel that you can accomplish this sort of research then by all means place your trust into a pre-made kit made by a reputable company like Greddy or shell out the money to have someone you can trust design and test one for you.

boxybutfast, he had a lot of helpful tips in this thread and he had some that were not so helpful, but he didnt really give a lot of info on what he wanted, so everybody told him to go and search. So that is pretty much the best thing for him to do is research turbo setups and the basics of having turbo on your car.
