i could be wasting your time here, but check the ecu to be SURE it's a pr3.

yes it is a pr3. the vtec does kick in. Sometimes when I am just cruising at around 80mph. I get a code 9. would that have anything to do with it? I never get that code if I use my pm6.

Make sure it is not an ECU for an Automatic:

Remove the top cover and it should say "MT"..
If it says AT, that is your problem..

Vtec is at 4800, rev limit at 8200.

If you can only get 6500, then you're throwing a code. Probably one having to do with vtec.

sorry about that, i mess with ecu's all day.

this area is underneath that center bar on the ecu, use the really long chip as a landmark.

u gotta move the resistor at r68 to r67.

So are the fuel maps the same on the ecu that was designed for the automatic?

I have read that there was some difference between the two..

yes, maps different, redline different, and it's got weak cams.

not sure if the vtec point is different?

there was a difference with the valve springs also, auto only has single, but I think that's only with obd1?
