It's not chipped just like a P28, since it's OBD0 (mostly) you just replace the rom with a socket, no parts to add.

The PR3 has an 8000rpm rev limiter and 6565 vtec point. As far as I know, the JDM and EDM variants have the same specs. Anyone confirm?

Well there's 2 equations to get the vtec point from the ecu code, and the one Crome uses yields 6565, while BRE says 4700ish. It's been so long since I've driven a stock PR3, I don't know what it is anymore...

you can definitely chip it. for dirt cheap too. i have three different chips
for my pr3. all i do is take the ecu cover off pop one out and pop the new one in.
as for the stock vtec point i thought it was somewhere around 5200 or so.
if you chip it that might change though

me too just that my vtec kicks in at 4600 unless my tach is off a lil. as for red line i hear its 8000 and others say its 8200 all i know is that i dont try to hit the 8000 i usually shift a little before

Crome uses OBD1 formula for obd0 vtec. The clock speed in the obd0 vtec ecus is different and thus the formula is different also. BRE is correct.

This explains the discrepancy in VTEC points between BRE and Crome. I wondered which was correct, thanks.

We tried Bre and Turboedit and changed the settings but it was the same when we tested it out.
