Default How to Clean My K&N Filter?

All this talk of the J's intake made me realize that I should probably clean my K&N filter - but I'm not sure how to do that and it came with no instructions on when/how to clean. Does the K&N need to be cleaned (I'm assuming it does) and how often? How do you clean these things?

And I believe they have a cleaning cycle/time table in the recharge kit.

Something along the lines of clean every 12K miles, inspect every oil change. And I think you can opt to re-oil before cleaning @ 3-6K miles or something like that. I don't have my kit in front of me.

Vatozone should carry and have the cleaning kit in stock.

Again, I'm going by memory but I believe it mentions re-oiling if "necessary" during that 3K mile/oil change inspection. I guess if it's in especially dry environments? Dunno.

Of course, re-oil after cleaning.

W3RD. I've been putting off cleaning mine for yet another season. Granted, the car only got driven 2000 miles since March....

I think it's more that they filter better when they are a little dirty. There is definitely a power difference after you clean it. The car is usually a bit 'jumpier'.

Not my imagination, either. My butt dyno detects this much more than mods that cost me waaaaayyy more than an almost-free filter cleaning.
