simple weight rection....
Hey I need some ideas about taking some weight off my 97 ex. I know cf hood, racing seats, lighter rims, take out the spare. What else can I do??? I really dont want to strip my whole interior out. Would taking the sound deadining out of the trunk make a difference? Thanks for the help..
taking out the spare would be a good way to remove weight, if you want a carbon fiber hood for a 96-98 Civic, I have one for sale and I guarantee you will not find one for cheaper, plus I am kind of local and I'm having a hard time finding someone local to buy it...if your interested, just hollar
as for the weight reduction, removing the seats and panels is a good way to do it, I've done it to both my cars and it's not unbearable to look at or deal with...might want to wait until winter is over to do that though; it can get a little cold

To a non power steering rack=manual rack.
Geez why do people even bother postsing **** and they don't understand cars very well. I hope yer not planning to do this yourself either cause you'll never get it done. Just my 2 pennies

I took out the spare, AC, cruise control, that wood piece in the trunk, the lower tape deck, and center console, I doubt it made much differance though.

the steering swap kinda sucks to do yourself but its not impoosible, all you need is some tools a chiltons (well chiltons suck if you have a haynes) and some beer...
but for weight reduction why whould youe do that, you should pull your dash and yank everything out of there..

Yeah that whole part, cupholders, shift boot, storage part, and tape player. hopefully I'll get a digicam soon, and I can get you a pic. Actually when I finish my car, I'll be borrowing a friends, so hold out a couple weeks, and I'll get a pic for ya.

Ok maybe some of this car stuff comes as common sense to me and not to others. Heh whatever
And I was refering to you not knowing about what manual rack meant, not so much your question.

a/c will save you 29.5lbs
replace the battery with a lightweight racing type. Or relocated it the back rear of the trunk. Center it though.
if you are very risky, remove the front and rear bumper supports. 100lbs right there.
Hell, remove all the sound damping materials too.
