b16 cold startup gives clunk sound!!
It's cold here where I live and my stock b16 is having problems starting up sometimes. In the morning when I start it up, it cranks for around 4 seconds before starting up (much slower than usual). It would always start though. What concern me is when it starts up, there is this one little clunk sound (in the block i believe) before everything inside the motor starts moving. I don't know what could cause that. Motor compression is around 215 all across. Ignition timing set at 16deg. Using 91 octane gas.
I'm having really bad throttle response. Could it be a timing issue? What else could I check? Thank you.

The starter could be "clunking" when its engaging, or you could have a bad motor mount and the when the starter engages, the motor is moving and something is hitting.
First thing I'd do is have someone else start the car and you watch in the engine bay to see if there is alot of movement.
Then I'd pull the starter and make sure everything is ok with that.
As far as bad throttle response, I'd check the normal things like:
Ignition timing, condition of distributor cap, rotor, spark plug condition and gapping, and vavle lash.
