Default valve springs off center under retainers BAD RUBBING - BIG PICTURES

here's some BIG pics for you guys,

the car had all ITR springs, ran fine for 2 years,i had the following done recently by the machine shop: ferrea valves put in, and changed the inners to portflow, i stuck in some skunk2 cams while looking at this problem(car hasn't been drove with them yet), thats why the change of inners.

anyway, moter run fine for 1,100 miles, then one day after getting on it pretty hard, 9k shifts, i heard a higher pitched knocking sound, like a wrist pin, did some investigating and found this problem

all the intake valve springs are sliding out from under the retainers it looks like, you can ALMOST see down inside the middle of the spring some are off so bad.

1 IS SO BAD IT'S EATING AWAY AT THE ACTUAL HEAD!! thats the sounds i've been hearing, the motor was only drivin 1 mile since the sounds started. When i start the car the noise only happened when the throttle would peak and go back down. for everyones information, yes the yellow springs are on the intake side, and the paint is pointing up.

but have a look and give some input.

here's a link to see the exhaust side -they're all perfect... and i know most valve springs will sometimes look off center, but my intake are really bad AND RUBBING

so the springs are unseated on the reatainer?
maybe wrong installed height? or seat pressure?

Something isnt right. those springs should be seated by the retainers.

Is it possible the retainers are in upside down? Like everyone is saying...the retainers should seat the springs and hold them on center.

1. DO NOT RUN THE MOTOR ANYMORE
2. Remove the springs and retainers and replace them.

Those look like Ferrea retainers and springs. Looks like the underside of the retainer is pretty worn.

I would bet this sp/ret combo didn't have a tight fit and wore out.

ROCKET: they are all stock ITR springs/retainers, EXCEPT i had portflow inners put in when i had FERREA VALVES put in , so NO they aren't ferrea springs and retainers..

THE ONLY NON OEM PARTS IN THE HEAD ARE CAMS, INNER SPRINGS, AND VAVLES

DUDE.

Those are Honda aluminum retainers found in automatic B16's. That's a no no. The look alot like Ferrea retainers I have seen though.

That makes sense though since the springs are painted from the factory.

I thought yellows went on the intake side but you have the red ones on the intake side.

The springs are not upside down as the painted side goes up.

Me personally, I would only trust AL retainers as far as I could throw them.

I personally bought the retainers from acura over 2 years ago, with all 32 springs and NEW cams(all 2000 spec parts)..car's been fine for 2 years(evans honda specialist installed stuff)now...local v8 machine shop puts in new valves and inner valve sprigns, all goes to hell, and now i'm being told they are AUTO b16 retainers??? GSR and ITR retainers are the same part#, and the new retainers looked just like my old gsr ones, i just wanted new parts when i had everyhting put in over 2 years ago..now since i changed the inners to portflow and the valves to ferrea(stock size) ..everthing is crazy

the yellows are on the intake side, there is NO RED on there, thats just oil stuff, that's just discolored the the metal, the yellows are installed on my intake side, and the paint is up

Stick a magnet on the retainers. Sometimes the lighting of the pics can be tricky and make stuff look shinier.

and you obviously dont know what you're talking about since they dont look upside down and a retainer wont install upside down
