me no understand what you mean by this...
if your tps (located on the firewall side of the throttle body) is within spec when moving it by hand...check to see if the cable is adjusted correctly. if it is too tight it will not close all the way...

My guess is that the surface on your head where then intake manifold connects to it didnt get clean enough, there is prolly old gasket material stuck on there and is creating a gap, its happened to lots of us
dont **** with your tps it is not your tps. Have you tried adjusting the throttle screw thingie? If so and you sure you have vaccum lines pluged in right then your manifold is leaking. Clean gasket better.

its a pretty new gasket, i had it on the factory intake manifold for two weeks. could switching out the manifold mess it up? ill try a new one any way.i also reused the tb gasket for the gsr, should i have used the type r one or is there even any difference?
you should use a new gasket every time, im really betting now that this is why you are idling so high. Its either the intake, TB, or both. Try the TB first because its easiest and get both gaskets for their own parts (i.e. if u have a b16 head get the b16 intake mani gasket, type r throttle body get that gasket)
I just fixed that same problem on my 1994 USDM GSR by doing this:

I did not twist it all the way down though. I only adjusted it a couple of rotations down and it was perfect enough to giv em stock idle. Hope that helps.

i dont have that under my tb. i have the 95 gsr but thanks for that info. so type r tb gasket right, ok ill try that.
for those of you taht took off your stock gsr IM in a crx did it come off easy ? i tried to take it off but it got stuck on i dont know what .... it's loose so i know all the screws and bolts are off.. and i checked to see if all the hoses were off and they were. i was going to just take the whole head off, but i dont really want to.. so if anyone has any suggestions it would help a lot TIA
and the idling problem i think it's either gasket or yoru hoses are hooked up wrong/loose

did you undo the IM support bracket under the car? BTW i did the skunk2 IM to my gsr motor and it runs mint. just like with the stock IM on. you need to clean the old surface real well.

this is good reference, i would advise trying this. My friends B16 had the same problem, he did this ^ and fixed the idle problem. Then you can mess with the IDLE screw afterwards...

i dont have that under my throttle body, isn't that on the older engines. mine is a 95 i dont have that. and there are 6 screws and 4 bolts on the stock manifold plus the 2 more bolts on the the manifold bracket underneath.

NO!
You cannot use an ITR throttle body gasket on a throttle body with an FITV valve like the OBD1 GSR or D16Z6.
You HAVE to use the right gasket with those or you'll end up with 2000 RPM idle.
