Default VAFC used to control nitrous?

i was thinking if i could use the vtec activation through my vafc to turn on my nitrous? i was thinking of this plus a micro switch would be great. for example have your vtec (nitrous) engage at 3500rpm and shut off right before redline and have the micro switch there so it will only turn on between those rpms at wot, if you didnt have the micro switch there the nitrous would be flowing between those rpms regardless if you are slowing down/speeding up. what are your thoughts? i myself am pretty stoaked about this idea!

I had nitrous and i used a vafc to get it tuned for nitrous and for all motor. all they really did is richin it up a bit there is no timming functions on a vafc so thats out of the question.

Sounds like it would work in theory, but I dont think the VAFC could add enough fuel to match the nitrous...Even though you can add +/- 50% Ive found youll throw a MAP sensor code with anything past about +/- 25%...

I think turbo guys do something like this they call the "VAFC Hack".

I forget the lower limit for vtec activation, but I dont think you can turn it off again with the VAFC...
Try it though, sounds like you may get it to work

I am not familliar with the vafc but if you can't adjust ignition tables then you are asking for trouble IMO. Vtec ignition timing is advanced ,every time you hit your vtec(nitrous) you are risking detonation and leaning out. I just bought the s200 with nitrous control. It can adjust timing(retard) increase fuel during injection and it controls your delivery rpm, at full throttle. Its also switch activated so you can run normal vtec fuel and ignition tables until you arm nitrous.

i dont think you guys get what im saying. i would just use the vtec wire off of the vafc and hook it to the microswitch and the run the other wire to the realy which would then trigger the solinoids. it would just be an adjustable rpm switch. catch my drift??........

i understand.I guess it depends on how much nitrous u want to spay. all I am saying is that i wouldn't use nitrous without retarding my ignition timing.I am sure the idea is possible but it would be dangerous if you were going with lets say a +40 shot. detonation is very possible with out retarding the timing.I lost an engine because i set the nitrous to spray at 4200 rpms without adjusting timing and fuel.
good luck.

i use a vafc.. on my crv.. not for nitrous.. but to save gas.. best thing i ever spent 150 bucks on..now i get a over 400 miles to the gallon.. ive done 275 miles on half a tank so ill just guesstimate under 500 miles..to a full tank..

Oh I understand now...Yeah it sounds like it would work perfect.Thats very creative

The vtec solenoid output goes to the micro switch which goes to the relay...Gotcha

So your nitrous will be armed anytime your above setpoint right? Unless you wire in a toggle switch.

And then you just floor it WOT to close the micro switch and activate the nitrous!
Good idea
I assume this is on a non-vtec engine?
I think the solenoid output is B+ instead of the usual GND switching so you may have to rewire your noids...
You wont be able to turn off your nitrous though as the VAFC wont turn off VTEC.

eactly! but the nitrous will turn off as soon as you are not at wot hence the microswitch.

Sounds like it will work, just dont hit the rev limiter(fuel cut) with the nitrous going .You may blow something.
But if you got an MSD w/ the soft touch rev-limiter then.....
