Default 2.25" piping ok for daily driving?

I've got a B18c in my 94 Civic sedan. This setup is purely for daily driving ... no racing. I'm gonna go for a 4-2-1 GSR or USDM ITR header for the low end, but what about piping? I figure I should atleast go with 2", but most people on here suggest 2.25"? Will 2.25" hurt my low end and/or be much louder? Currently I have a 2" Dynomax Super Turbo muffler to keep the noise down.

2 1/4 is fine.

as long as you keep your catalytic convertor in place and have a halfway decent resonator you should have next to no noise problems and your low end shouldn't really be affected.

none of the stock headers have a 2.25" outlet, so should I just go with a 2" outlet?

I guess their are aftermarket headers with a 2.25" collector but some people complain these hang too low?

First, running a restrictive stock manifold isn't go to increase "low end" power. I'd suggest getting a nice aftermarket piece, which would vary depending upon your budget.

If you're going to be running a "bolt-on" style USDM header (which would have a 2.0" collector), I'd suggest going with 2.25" piping and a 2.25" muffler. It sounds as if you'll be purchasing a custom setup, but if you choose to go with an commercial cat-back system, most will be either 2.25" or 60mm (2.36"). A properly designed setup won't decrease low-end power, and the volume with vary depending upon your muffler and resonator selection.

I run a 2.25" Pipe back from the header and I've never had a problem.

I don't mind getting an an aftermarket header with a 2.25" collector ... as long as it doesn't hang too low

right now, I got a dented stock GSR manifold, with 1 7/8" low hanging piping (from a 2 dr I think) and a 2" Dynomax Super Turbo

The only aftermarket headers that I'm aware of with 2.25" collectors are custom pieces. Virtually every "off-the-shelf" header will either have a 2.00" collector or a 2.5" collector.

hmm ... so I guess it would be better to go with a stock header with a 2" collector

If by "stock" you mean an aftermarket header that's designed to bolt to the stock exhaust, then that wouldn't necessarily be a bad choice, depending upon which one you select. If you meant just a stock factory exhaust manifold, then no, that's definitely not better.

alright, so then with 2.25" piping, and a 2.25" Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, what am I looking for in terms of a header and cat?
