change tranny fluid it should make it smooth again i bet it was never checked or changed. if the fluid looks milky and has alot of metal shavings then thats the problem

Ahh, don't pay 100+ bucks for a 20$ job.....Tranny fluid included... (dont by yourself.)

get under your car, look at the tranny, on the bottom (im a ek guy, so it might be diff on 93)

look by the tranny, on the side, there is a bolt that looks like it needs an allen wrench, use your 3/8 ratchet (sp?) and stick it in there...loosen it...the fluid will drain out. (first take out the dip stick) stick it back in, tighten it, add fluid. Kinda like changing your oil.

Anyone, correct me if a 93 is totally different from a 96-00

Ill search and find some DIY threads....but OF COURSE you already did that search, RIGHT?!?!

There are more than one type of auto tranny fluid. For most intents and purposes, theres 2 kinds. One will give a firm shift, the other a soft shift. The soft shift kind is what most modern engines use, and actually most now all use Dexron IIE, right guys??
Anyway, the old kind can be used, but itll give a firmer shift. It is fine to use, no damage. You can put the old **** in new trannies, but DONT put the smooth shifting fluid **** in old trannies, there will be a lotta slippage, and the clutches will burn out.

So check if you got the right fluid, that could be causing too firm a shift. Also, if you tranny fluid change, have a pro do it. I wont get into technical details, but a flush and fill CAN be bad if your fluid is already gone bad. Some buildup may have formed, like in the valve body, causing bad shifts. So they run a cleaner through it, sorta like a engine flush. Then put in Dexron IIE, theyll probably reccomebd it. This will most likely fix it. I definatly say it will, unless you have a real problem, then that may suck.
