FEW QUICK QUESTIONS- ls/vtec set up, will it work????
I'm rebuilding my b18c1(ls I think) and swapping in a b16a1(Si-R I think) and want to rev high but ls piston, rods and cams aren't a good set up cuz 1) not for high reving 2) not for vtec. That's why I got pr3 pistons, rods and cams with a b16a1 comp.
A-How well will this set up work?
B-I know with the b16a1 comp I can rev up to 81/2k rpms, but can I set it to rev higher or do I need a different computer?
C-If so, is a aftermarket computer needed or is a type-r computer good? Keep in mind, I can get a type-r comp. For $300.
D- I want my vtec to kick in at 4k rpms, can I set up the comp. for dat or do I need a vtec controllers?
E- The rpm gauge I have only goes up to 8k rpms, can I change that or do I need one of those ugly rpms gauges that's on the dash? I want it to be a sleeper.
This is my first mod and I'm only 19, so I'm a nebbie and don't have deep pockets. If you guys have ideas keep dat in mind and I have an open mind for any good ideas.
Thank you in advance H-T members

first off the engine code: B18C1 is the GSR.. B18B1 & B18A1(pre-94) are LS engines
-aftermarket comp is highly reccomended, and if your project is too extensive then yes, you will require eprom tuning or ems tuning w/ that aftermarket comp.
-vtec controller or epromming can change your vtec x-over.
-as far as revving is concerned upgraded valvetrain is a must. if your taking it way over the limit then building the bottom end is a must. and being able to go past an ecu's cut-off point will require your ecu to be chipped/tuned or replaced w/ an aftermarket unit.
-as far as being able to view the rpms exceeding your cluster. we'll then i guess an aftermarket guage is a must.
