axle will not go into hub on my 92 Accord EX
Just got a brand new drivers side axle for my accord and it fits nicely into the tranny, but WILL NOT go into the hub. I have inspected the axle and hub splines and they seem to be fine. I took a wire brush and brake cleaner to the inside of the hub and the axle will still not go in. I thought that NAPA gave me the wrong axle, so I took it back and swapped for another and am still having the same problem.
Any ideas?

yea wiggle it with some lube on it
Had same issue with my 91 EX (used anti seize on top 1/3 the rest Liquid wrench supper pen.
had to wiggle the hub and twist the rotor some but it dropped in, just don't force it. if you do then you just wacked the whips splines and will have to replace the hub is you wacked them too much.

It's kind of a PITA getting it back into the hub...
You have the splines lined up just right? Use a little high temp lube or grease on both the axle and inside of the hub and twist the axle back and forth a fraction of an inch til it starts to go in... and then use a BFH to bang the hub on... watch out for the studs too...
It's really a 2 man job... it can be done alone but it is sooooo much easier with a 2nd set of hands...

never used a BFH
and was not that much of a PITA
Just abit of lube and wiggle giggle like a cherry on the first run sooner or later it will slide right on in. Just don't force it or it will RIP the WHIP.

I have tried all these tricks. Lubed it up with motor oil. Slowly rotate the axes and the rotor. No luck.
Are all 90-93 Accord hubs the same? Are ABS hubs the same as non ABS? Are all the axles the same?

I believe ABS axles are different than Non ABS axles... Not 100% sure on that though..dunno about ABS hubs...I've never had a need to find out... but all 90-93 LX & DX hubs ARE the same...
It can be a pretty tight fit sometimes tough... if you can at least get it in enough for the splines to line up then you can just beat the hub onto the axle...
Not all hubs and axles fit together the same...some slide right in some you have to beat the crap out of...that's why not all advice is helpful or better than other advice...

Another thing is that the part came from NAPA not from Honda. I've read other people's posts where they have problems with parts from auto parts.
If you can't get enough of the shaft end through to start the nut I would use a brass drift or driver (hunk of brass) and place on the hub. Hit brass drift w/ a 3-lb hammer to "drive" the hub. The brass will prevent any damage to the hub.
It would be good to measure the new shaft spline w/ a micrometer and compare to your old axle. If even slightly larger, it's not going in.
good luck

The inside of my hub was rusted as hell when I swapped out my axles. It took a lot of persuasion from a BFH. Just be careful.
i can't even get the axle to start into the hub.....not even enough to grip the splines....i am wondering if the axles is the wrong size.
I finally got it to fit. The wiggle is much more important than brute force. Had to take the whole hub off the car, but at least its in there and the car is on the road.
