Tranny or Cable??
Ok i have a problem. I was driving my car a few weeks ago, and i was trying to turn a corner when my stick shift went haywire and wobbly. It seems to be stuck in 3rd gear but the stick shift goes all over the place, and i can't get it in in any gear. Can anyone suggest what exactly this could be and how much it would possibly cost to fix it?? Has anyone heard of this before?

jack your car up (once the exhaust is cooled off of course) and look where the linkage attaches to your shifter. there is a chance that the self locking bolt may have failed and fallen out or something. it happened to me once and it sucked! i limped all the way to work but it was an easy fix with the right hardware.

Mine once just fell out of place cause I put the rubber stopping thing in wrong so it didn't stop it from falling off easily. I'm not sure how much it costs, I can only tell you it's pretty easy to replace. I know my hasport one is like $150, but it's a aftermarket linkage.

well for one thing, i don't have a jack right now, and i the car is stuck at my moms house in canada, so i'll hurry and get it jacked up as soon as i can. But what am i looking for?? As you can tell, i'm still learning so be patient with me
my car did that exact same thing, but stuck in 2nd gear.
cause: previous owner had cut 2" out of the middle of his shifter to make a "short shifter". well the weld finally gave up and snapped in half.
it was ok tho.. i was right beside a dealer so i just did a 2nd gear start and pulledin there. went to the local performance shop and bought a solo short shifter and ES bushings.. better then before !

Yeah i see the rods when i took off the shifter boot and ****, but when i move the shifter, i see both rods moving. I just don't know if one of them is disconnected or not. How can i tell?
One end of it will be hanging freely if it fell loose. I don't think both rods should be moving. One moves to shift gears, the other is just a stabalizer i think. could be moving cause it's broken or loose. You need to get under the car.
