solid cel good ecu
hey guys I am geting a solid cel when i jump for codes, but i put my ecu into my friends car and it worked. My car is a 94 LS and the engine is 96 b18c-r i am using a conversion harness and the obd2 p73 ecu.
could the harness be wired wrong or is there something else that would cause a solid cel, other than bad ecu.

You need to check the code that the CEL is sending. Do a search on how to check for the CEL codes and come back with code number and we can help you better.
Doh, my bad! It didn't click that he had used the jumper!

I think he knows how to do that. He is saying that the ECU puts out a solid CEL (doesn't blink) as soon as it's plugged in (regardless if you've jumped the ECU plug or not).
In my experience, that happens when there is a bad ground somewhere, or no ground at all. Make sure all your grounds are there. There are 5, right? Alternator, transmission, valve cover, battery, and thermostat area.
Also make sure you have the correct harness.....sometimes they will fit, but if it's not the correct one, or it doesn't fit "correctly" it will do that as well.

If your engine doesn't start, look for other reasons. Like a harness that's wired up wrong or maybe something isn't getting power.
Got fuel? Got spark?

i printed off all the pinouts for obd1 and obd2 so i am going to check my ecu conversion harness, and check all my grounds because that is a good possibilty, electronics are not my strong suit.
thanks for the help
thanks for the help
i checked the grounds and all the wires i had to lengthen and it was all good, so i checked the plugs that seemed to plug right up and noticed some of the wires from the car side obd1 plugs had wires that led to nowhere, i am assuming this is not good, i am going to put the LS harness on my engine so all the plugs line up.
my question is for the dizzy, injectors, and alt can i just rewire those to obd1 and if so does any one know how.
