Default air condition setup in a eg6

before i post, yes i did a search, but nothing fouund. i have the old r12 setup in my 92 for my a/c. i will be putting in a b16a swap also. my question is can i put the r134, and connect the hoses from the pump to the hard lines, and use the same a/c radiator from the r12 setup to be able to use the a/c?

kool. so as far as everything goes, i'll need to upgrade if you want to call it, r134 pump(b or d series), a/c bracket(b or d series), r134 hoses(high/low), Radiator(orig r12 unit), and the r134 chemical. if i missed anything let me know...

The oil from the R12 isn't good in the R134a system, so you have to clean out the insides of the evaporator, condensor, hoses, whatever. The dessicant in the receiver dryer isn't so easy to clean & dry, so most people replace it. Leftover oil from the R12 can keep it from cooling as much as it should.

Removing ALL the air & moisture from the system is important. That's why you run a vacuum pump on it for awhile before putting in the R134a.

You could also charge with Enviro-Safe -- no purging/vaccum pulling needed, compatible with the R12 and R134 systems and their chemicals, better for your system and for the environment than either. I use it and it works great. Cheaper than converting if you've got an older car.
