Best Race Engine Setup For CRX
I jus bought a 89 crx hf shell and im building it into a track car and maybe an occasional street runner and im trying to find out the best engine setup I can get im leaning towards b20/vtec because the torque im wanting a h22 but its alot of extra work to put it in so im wanderin what setup u guyz would use?

Welcome to Honda-Tech.
As for your question. You shouldn't worry about power AT ALL. You should learn how to drive the car FIRST then add power and suspension and brakes (or brakes first!). A b20vtec would be a fun motor but why? Do you have tons of resources at your disposal? Do you have tons of money to spend on every whim? If all you want is a fast track car you can build your D16 or swap in a simple b16 or b18c1. You might like the b18c1 the best because of the "secondaries" in the intake manifold which gives the motor a bit more "torque" at lower rpms while still allowing good power at higher rpms.
Now, since you didn't tell us what the exact purpose for this car is I now have to add my bit:
If this advice is for track days then great, you're welcome.
If you are going to be street racing you should die in a fire and take your family with you to reduce gene pool pollution.
If by "Track" you mean drag strip then you have wasted my time and I hate you.
once again... Welcome to Honda-Tech.

If you have enough "torque" can you do a wheelie in reverse? If so, would you use wheelie barz on the front of the car, or just stick with a "c pillar bar?"
Damn you guys are harsh, this guy's just askin what we think is a good race setup. If it were me I'd probably just do a B18B turbo or LS/VTEC turbo setup... it all really depends on what you want to do with it. If it's not going to be seing the street and is race only you can get away with B20/VTEC since you won't have to BAR it. Actually I'm not even sure what state you're in -- that's only in CA I'm pretty sure.
I wouldn't do the H22 just because of weight and handling issues if you're planning on taking this on any kind of track other than the dragstrip.

Yes, well this post has been covered about a gazillion times almost every day. We have reason to get mad because of people not searching.
Anywho my opinion. Your gonna have to spend cash if you want to be fast. I would definitely go with a Turbo D16 (Budget purposes and nice power) or just swap in a simple b18b/c because of the torque. I wouldn't get the b16a mainly because of the lack of torque and you are probably better off saving up a littl emore for the added torque and power band of the b18 engines.
Good luck on your project.
