Sweet. THanks for that info. I've looked for it everywhere, but no one ever had it for sure.
Excellent.
Now I know my S1 and this A1 are the same.

I figured they were the same, but had never seen any info on the A1 B cable tranny.
Now we know for sure.

Weird... so is it 90-91? 92-93? A B18A has a tranny with that steep gearing??? Was it a special option or something? I thought it had the same ratio as a USDM S1.

Yes, the A1 has the same ratio as the listed USDM S1.
But none of the pages include the A1 in the listings.
BTW this tranny died because of a stoopid roll pin. The pin that holds the pinion shaft in place failed. This allowed the shaft to move outside the diff, chewing up the casing till it finally punched a hole through the clutch side.
No the LS 5th is not for sale.

Hang on I'm confused. This may sound dumb, but you said it has the same ratio as the USDM S1. Does it have a different final drive? I thought the USDM S1 had like a 4.266 FD whereas you list this one with a 4.40

Nope!
The YS1(USDM-B18) for the '92-93 had a 4.266 final!

The one from the FF-squad need to be refresh.
They list the YS1 and the S1 having the same gearing, which is wrong.
Only the 5th gear is the same.
S1
3.166
1.857
1.259
0.935
0.742 Final 4.400
YS1 USDM(Not GS-R)
13/42 3.230
20/38 1.900
26/33 1.269
30/29 0.966
35/26 0.742
15/64 Final 4.266
As for the other site, the JDM S1-J1 are not correct.
JDM S1
39/12 3.250
39/19 2.052
34/24 1.416
32/29 1.103
29/32 .906
15/66 Final 4.400
No hard feeling.Just clarifying somemore...
*Some people are saying the J1 is not the same.I got one on my car and found it to be like a S1...but right now,she goes well,so I'm not planning to disamble just to know the ratios.*

YS1 USDM(GS-R)
13/43 3.307
19/40 2.105
24/35 1.458
31/28 1.107
28/32 .875
66/15 final 4.4
I will go with Francois on this one, the LS YS1 has a final of 2.266.

No tears. Only dreams, now.
I've driven an S1 and a J1 (JDM) B16A1... and that's where I'm confused. The J1's last 2 gears (4th and 5th) Were taller than mine. They had to be.... so I'm bothered now.

Re: B series A1 cable tranny specs....... (JdmegFOUR)
You have to use either a type R or 93+ GSR (non LSD) differential. It will fit in a YS1 case with a little modification to the case. Then just use the 4.7 countershaft and ring gear. Although your question doesn't make very much sense.
This has a great amount of information I learned about cable and hydro transmissions. I'm not positive all the little details are 100%, but it gives you an idea of some stuff.

I love the J1, my race car has VTEC at 4800...I can't go over 70 on the freeway or I"ll just sit cruising in VTEC.
