just got back from smog...FAILED...change ECU???
i got the car back yesterday...had a friend take it in for me...this is for my CRX hybrid(JDM B18C GSR)...everything was perfect at idle...once the guy got on the gas it failed...apparently it was getting too much fuel...the smog guy said if my ecu is chipped then it might be causing it...he wanted to turn down my fuel but i didnt have a adj fuel pressure regulator...SO last night i went a purchased a B&M FPR and gauge...do u guys think this will help?...im thinking the real problem is im running the wrong ecu...i currently have a P28 reprogramed to type R specs...im assuming this has a more aggressive fuel map...i doubt i can get a hold of a GSR P72 ecu so im kinda just left the FPR to lower the fuel...do u guys think it will pass without replacing the correct ECU...and if i do get my hands on a P72 will there be a problem if i get a '96 and up OBDII ECU for my OBDI '95 B18C?...sorry for so many Qs kinda stressing about this...
Try turning down your fuel press. a little. If you get a new ecu then you'll need to get an OBD1 ecu. My JDM B16 didn't pass emissions in Fremont where it's previous owner lived. I brought it back to Arizona and leaned out the fuel by 3% accross the board with an SAFC and it passed OK. It has a custom program in a P28 ecu too.
so do your think i can do the same thing with the FPR alone...i have no skrilla for a new ecu or that apex SAFC...
anybody else have any other suggestions?...pretty desperate to get the bastard passed...gonna bring it back next week probably..
