I am planning on going to check out a car of a h-t member around here and it is a 97 dx with a GSR swap i just want some good ideas of things to look for that might give me problems if they werent done right...i know buying this kind of car is risky and that is why i seek your help i dont want to get screwed thanks.

 

have a look all around the engine bay, ask for papers for the engine obviously. Check out the suspension parts. If he says its never been raced then hes lying... damn its 1 am bed time

 

check compression, look at spark plugs. check mounts. insist on a test drive (obvious).. check cv boots, check for CEL codes even if CEL is off...

 

Make sure there is coolant. Ask to let it sit with the motor running to make sure the coolant system comes on and works. Check the oil. Make sure the header doesn't look cracked. Check the tires for wear.

Make sure it doesn't mis fire or bog. Obviously you are going to have to take it for a test drive, but make that the last thing and make sure you let him know the test drive is teh last thing and that if it goes well you will be buying it.

oh yeah and what do the diff colors on the spark plugs mean
