What to check when engine comes in.
Ok, I have decided to try my swap myself. Since I have 2 cars and a garage I figure why not. I always hear of people recieving engines with broken parts and figure it's something you just have to deal with. So my only concern when I recieve my engine is what to check. Does anyone have a basic checklist I can go through and or tips of what to look out for?

Open the oil cap and make sure there isnt water or milky resedue that would indicate a blown headgasket.
Check the compression as soon as you get the motor in.
Check to make sure you got the right motor.
Check the year of the head. Hopefully it is still together from the factory.
Also make sure you got all the parts you ordered.
