Code 22 only in 5th
I seem to always get code 22 after i reach the vtec crossover at 5200 in 5th gear and decelerate..i redline 1st 2nd and 3rd fine..but as i drive normal on the freeway in 5th and gas it to the point where it hits vtec xover..the code pops on..i would have to reset the ecu and itl be fine again until i hit vtec in 5th..its not low oil because i just changed the oil 2 weeks ago and its topped off on the dipstick..how common is it the pressure switch goes bad?
remove your vtec oil pressure sensor, spray it out with brake cleaner, let it dry, and put it back on.
mine flakes out on me ~every 6 months or so, this fixes it every time.

my ecu is throwing code 22 also. only thing is it is the CEL light is on from the start. I tried putting more oil since my car is an oil burner but it didn't make a difference. I was also wondering if artifex can post up on how to clean it out. Any help would be nice since i am running a B18c1 NON-VTEC now.

It's not rocket science... Just take apart everything inside the box labeled #9, clean it, & use new gaskets to put it back together. My VTEC was OK but I did this because of an oil leak.
The VTEC oil pressure switch is #15. #12, #14, & #25 are O-ring type gaskets. #12 has a screen in it that might get clogged with crud. Then just make sure the rest of the stuff is clean.
Maybe for some of you the problem is in the wiring, not the physical vtec valves. For you, this won't fix it.

Thanks for the info. My CEL light is off now for some reason. I added some oil since i always burn the damn juice up and ever since i left my work, it never turned on. For good measure, i'm taking the damn thing apart and cleaning it. Thanks for all the info. Peace

Mine were kinda hard & brittle, so if I tried to put them back on I think it would have leaked badly.

Got it done. Cleaned up the outside with some BRAKLEEN and wiped off the gunk. New gasket is in now. Just need to change the o-ring inside the pressure switch now. VTEC is back once again.
