swap problem need help asap
ok im replacing my b16 for a b16 block gsr head and itr tranny. i just got it back in and went to fire it up but i just cranks and doesnt not fire up, instead it just spins then eventually i hear this kinda futuristic cartoon gun sound like beeeweh. my friend said that one time he saw a semi fire ball shooto out of the exhaust manifold where it would bolt to the mid section (its not hooked up right now) i need help bc i have no clue whats going on
the plugs are soaked and i AM GETTING SPARK so im stomped please help if you can

ok i just checked the motor and when i have the cams lined up so the pointers are up the red mark on the crank pulley does NOT line up with the pointer on the block
ok i re set the belt and the crank pully o the pointer lines up with the white line while the cam gears point up......now when i turn the engine by hand i get allot of pressure against me pushing and at one point when it resits i force it by and then i get a loud hissing sound wtf
The two arrows on the cams hould point up, but there should also be another line on each cam, these are most important. They should point directly at each other. That hissing you are hearing is the pressure in the cylinder being released as you turn the crank over and the valves open, thus releasing the built up air in the cylinder. make sure after you tighten the belt that the lines are still on target, sometimes when people tighten the belt, the crank moves a little causing the timing to be off a tooth.
Also, have you checked for compression? Do that after you check your timing. One more thing, if your plugs are soaked, remove them, unplug the fuel pump, and let the engine turn over several times. This will clear up any excess fuel in your cylinders. You could be fouling your plugs.
yeah i know its presure building up and i double checked the lines again. everything is the way it should be as far as the marks and belts but it still hisses and i have no idea why. its a gsr head on a b16 block if that helps at all

well can someone tell me why there is such a build up that it pushes back the other way, clockwise, against me at times. bc ive never had a motror do that when im turning it
The 4 essentials of a running engine.
1. Fuel
2. Spark
3. Compression
4. Timing
Im going to say its probably a timing issue with your car. I suggest you find a real mechanic who is willing to take a look at it, maybe they will tell you what is wrong with it. You could also check all your GROUNDS. Try using a different distributor off a running car. Maybe you have weak spark.

My guess: spark plug firing order.</TD></TR></TABLE>
bingo i had marked the plug order on the cap, but in my haste i just put them on wrong, even though i looked at them about 20 times. i guess sometimes it just happens
