hey guys , my boy (24k si on HT) has a b18c5 swapped coupe , and every time he gets gas at the gas station , his car wont start , he has to crank it a few times , then stop , crank a few tims and stop. finally it will start but will idle like **** . eventually it evens out and works like normal , but why is this???? thanks guys!

 

Maybe a bad fuel filter or fuel pump?

 

but wouldnt it do it every start if it was one of those???????

he tried a new gas cap and it didnt work.

 

sounds like he not getting enough pressure in fuel tank have him check it

 

fuel pump...turn your key on your ignition to the 1st turn. then you wait to hear the fuel pump "humm" if your fuel pump is not humming then most likely thats where your problem is. i know cus this had happend to me before....recently.

The fuel pump hums and it starts fine all the time except when I get gas.....even if I take the gas cap off and put it back on it works.....only when I put new gas in the tank is when I have this problem......

 

that happend on my old old 626 and i think it is because when you open the fuel cap all the pressure is lost and if your fuel system isn't working good than it may have trouble building enough pressure to inject into the cylinders. I would say check the pump.

my car i would have to let sit for 10 min then it started, i don't know why and never fixed it but you should check the fuel system it sounds like it is related to that.

 

the more and more i think about it , the more and more i think its the pump . we will be driving , and all of a sudden it will start cutting in and out....

 

sounds like a fuel pump and pressure problem to me.

mine does that when i start my car then shut it off soon after i start it and then try to start it again soon there after.
