ok this is what i was wondering i have a vafc and i am doing my swap i got the engine in it is running just got to fix up that noise i am getting but besides that i am running ok now i have the vafc hooked up and i have no idea what i am doing with it i did the config. so that it is not running but i was wondering is it really worth having? and how do i go about doing some type of tuning to it or should i take it off and sell it? i am not going to lie i am very intimadated by it and i am scared that i am going to mess up my engine with it let me know what you guys would do

 

Have your VAFC tuned on a dyno by someone who's familiar with them, that's the only proper way to do it. They are a good addition, especially if you start adding some bolt-on's etc

 

well have a IM and a ram air intake and a exhaust with a jdm itr header i am planning on boost in the near future so i was wondering if i should keep it being that i am going to get a turbo timer with the kit i am looking at. but i am just very very intimidated by the whole vafc i don't want to mess up my engine i spent to much money and time on it to mess it up! thanks for the write tho anyone else? also does anyone have some genric settings i could play with so i don't mess my engine up or since i am so intimidated should i take it off and wait until i can get the money to tune it?

 

you're safe to keep it, but until you can properly tune it using a dyno, leave it disabled if you're worried about messing something up. You'll find that others will support what I have said here...

 

Yeah I'm not too familiar with v-afc. Can you squeeze some horsepower out of i/h/e/hiflow-cat using it?

 

yes you can since it's a fuel management device...don't expect huge gains or for it to do what a Hondata does but they certainly do serve a purpose and will complement bolt ons and cams for sure.

see that is the thing i do the intializing for it and then i check it and it is set for a 6 cyl. and i am worried that it i will mess up my engine i guess i can call apexi and they can help me out with setting it as disabled.

no cash for hondata so i got a vafc

 

i think a vafc is def worth it esp if you're gonna go turbo. it can go +/- 50% so you can run larger injectors since you're gonna need the extra fuel. You can use a dyno, but i'd rather get a plx wide band 02 sensor to tune it with out a dyno, then maybe tune the wideopen throttle on a dyno to save you dyno time. keep in mind that if you get a wide band you'll probably need some one to drive the car and some one to tune it if going on the street. The vafc has 2 maps.. one for normal driving (nar throttle mao) and (high throttle map) I suggest tuning the nar throttle about 85% or so and tuning the high to about 90%. after that its mostly a matter of watchin the rpms, correction, and fuel map on hvt and lvt. i'm currently running an inline fuel pump and 440cc injectors boosting 15 psi and everything runs much better with the vafc. only down falls about it is that it isnt a stand alone like hondata....the vafc corrects fuel according to rpm and not load and cant control timing!!!
