Default Jammed Hood Latch - Need Help Quick!

How do you get a hood open when the hood latch is stuck? I can pull the release lever inside the car, and there's tension on it (ie. the cable isn't busted), even tried pulling the cable extra hard with pliers, but the hood just won't pop. What can I do?

Try having someone pull up or push down on the hood while you pull the lever. Chances are, you need to adjust that spring on the latch.

There's a notch for a flathead screwdriver. Screw it in if you need to push down on the hood to open it, and unscrew it a bit if you need to pull up on the hood.

I always get those confused so if that doesnt work, screw/unscrew it the other way

Push down hard on the hood.... sit on it if you have to. It's probably got something wedged into the base of the hood hinge.

Got it! With a little help from my gf. I just had her push down on the front while I popped the latch. I turned the spring post to the left a couple times and I had to move the bottom "female" part of the latch forward a little bit (I just put the hood on the other day and didn't realize it needed it til I tried to open it), then I shot it all down good with WD-40.

Only question now is, when I pop the hood, should it spring up on its own and catch on the safety catch? When I pop it now, as did my old hood, it will pop but it doesn't move, and I have to lift it up just to get to the safety latch.

It sounds like you're missing the spring on the male part... as long as it doesn't bypass the safety latch, don't screw with it though.

the spring is definitely there. my old hood had it too. but technically, the hood should pop up an inch or two on its own, right?
