Smaller wheels affect ATTS?
I cannot seem to get a solid answer from any mechanic or dealer that I speak with.
I have a 97 Honda Prelude SH and as you all know, it has the ATTS system. I want to get some 15 steelies for the winter but I was told by some dealers and mechanics that it will not work as the ATTS system will not work properly. I was thinking, why not get 15 inch steelies with tires that match the overall diameter of the original wheel and tire that I have on, which by the way are stock. What do you all think? Any suggestions would help.

That's what im thinking. There shouldn't be anything wrong with having smaller wheels and taller tires to match the original wheel and tire size. I don't think that that application should mess with the ATTS. Im just wondering why Honda and some other mechanics think differently?
You can get 15 in for your car and run snow tires. IT does not trip the ATTS light or affect it if you have 15 in wheels (all the same series sidewall) on all four. If you just put them on the front and vice versa or have just one 15 in on with the factory 16's then ATTS with sense that and not function properly.
I ran 225/50/15 tires on my Type SH with no ATTS problems. These were about a 1/2" shorter in diameter than stock. After that I ran 225/50/16 tires which are about a 1/2 taller than stock with no probems either so as all your tires are the same diameter then you should be okay.
