wait, you blew up your manual Y8 and you found an automatic Y8?

Just use the clutch/FW/trans from your blown motor in the new one...

Just to let you know that their is no such thing an automatic engine.
The transaxle is a seperate component in the powertrain products, and a transaxle could be automatic or manual.
But as far as if the transaxles could be swapped for those engines I would say yes, most likely they could.

if your going from auto to 5spd, you'll need the pedal, hard/soft lines, clutch slave cylinder, the resovior, etc...

you will need to use 5spd tranny, IM from the 5spd engine along with TB.

ATTN: Automatic and manual ENGINES may not be 100% identical. Example: The intake manifold. On the y8 MT engine, has the IACV ON the manifold. on the auto, its integrated with the TB. You should be ok though. If your just swapping out the block, I see no problems, but check ahead. Are you reusing your intake and exhaust manifolds and transmission?

well stated. he isnt doing a auto-manual conversion for the few of u who somehow interpreted that. the guy blew his manual d16y8 and is replacing it with a d16y8 that came from an automatice vehicle. here are the parts id use from your blown engine.

manual tranny, blown engine flywheel and clucth (ur auto engine wont have theses), wiring harness, intake manifold (w/ throttle body), the ecu that came in your car, and exhaust manifold/header from your blown engine (whichever u may have)

Can anyone confirm identical blocks? Auto tranny engines idle 50rpm higher, but that may the ECU or TB, i dont know. Id assume with the same block, put a MT on, itll idle right at 620, either way 50rpms shouldnt be bad.
