Default GC coilovers on stock shocks?

Will the stock shocks hold up ok after installing Ground Control coilovers on them? I heard that Ground Controls were actually designed to work with factory struts. Anyone know? Thanks.

It depends in part on what spring rates you order for your coilovers. If you're thinking that you want something stiffer than the stock spring rates, I'd advise against using the OE shocks -- they just don't have sufficient dampening rates to handle an increased spring rate. Plus, I know a few blokes who have blown their stock shocks using after market springs/coilovers. If it were me, I'd error on this side of caution and get a new set of shocks, too.

Get new shocks.

Stock shocks hold up ok to aftermarket springs like Eibach Pro-Kits which are only a moderate drop, and more importantly, a slight increase in spring rates.

Kits like GC are good because
a) You can adjust the height
b) You can specify the springrates

If you're going to adjust the height and specify the springrates to the point that the stock shocks can handle, may as well save money and go with Eibach Pro-Kits. And you won't have the hassle/costs of corner weighing the car with the Pro-Kits as you would w/GC's.

Good luck

No matter what sping rates you get your stock shocks will eventually give out if the car is lowered.

The Ground Controls I got said "Limited Edition" or something to that effect on the box. What's the spring rate for these? TIA

My friend was riding with stock shocks on the LE GCs too for a while. His ride was pretty daym decent considering how low it was. But like everyone said. Do it the right way the first time so you wont regret it. Get the KYB AGXs and youll be set. I got the same combo and love the ride. I just hate the fact that the LEs spring rates are sooo soft. Great for daily driving but sucks when you want to take a turn really really hard. hehe

4door: If I get those KYB's and adjust them to the stiffest setting, won't that compensate for the squishy spring rate? The dude that sold them to me told me GC coilovers for Integras and Civics are all "Limited Edition". Unless you opt for the special spring rates which go with Konis or Bilsteins. I dunno...

If you order your GC's straight from Ground Control, you can specify if you want Limited Edition or Custom rates, and if you want them made for Koni shocks or not. I just ordered mine from them last week, and I got custom rates and got them fitted for Koni. The rates I got were 400f/300r, and paired with the new ITR rear sway bar I have on the way, I think that my suspension will be very capable of tearing up the turns on the auto x this spring.

I'll let you everybody know what I think of my new set-up when I get it all installed.

I have done that, and don't get me wrong but once you've expereinced stiff springs and know what they can do, you'll never look at a turn the same way again. The GCs LE and KYBs are a great combo for the street. Now if only I wasnt so lazy and installed that ITR rear sway bar sitting in my room, then it'll be all good.
