HELP my ITR motor idles at 5200RPM!!!!!

Default HELP my ITR motor idles at 5200RPM!!!!!

i was at a stop light and my car start to stay at 5200rpm and when i let clutch out to go it took off really really fast (i didnt know car could go that fast)

also it hits VTEC from 3-5000rpm and then after that doesnt go into vtec. what is wrong?

check your throttle cable? is it always stuck? or does it do it here and there? give more deatils please

obviously if your idling at 5200rpms and let off the clutch and go, you are going to take off its called launching..except you dont launch at 5200 becuase you will have no traction.. anyway.. check your thottle cable,idle screw on the throttle body and then check to see if you are throwing any codes

Yeah I'm going with stuck throttle cable. I once saw one stuck between the strut bar and the top of the strut assembly, the line going to the cruise control. Make sure the line isn't creased or the inner cable will be pinched.

how do you know you have a type r motor? whats the engine code? you obviously dont know how to spell correctly. are you sure its not a SOHC VTECH?

i havn't checked or anything but those of you critizing hisname ever think that maybe the name DOHC_VTEC is taken? and the other way to spell it would be VTECH? also none of your flaming is helping him out.

Well said... Help him out, dont harass the guy. Just chech the throttle cable... seems like you need to dajust it and give it some more slack

exactly. everyone is so fast to judge and flame right away.. anyway, the cable is one thing. make sure you're using an ITR cable if you do have an ITR engine.. and for your vtec, mayeb your using the wrong type of ECU or have the wrong map on it..

i think u have the wrong ecu, no way i throttle cable could change vtec, maybe u have a short or somethign, do u smell fuel? i hava p73 if u need it

i would say check the throttle cable also. It seems to be the problem with my friends integra also.

To the original poster..

When this happens stick your foot underneath the gas pedal and push up.. If the throttle cable is stuck you should be pulling it back from being stuck if this is your problem.
