Default 1989 SI Starting problems

First off, I just want to say I really hope someone can help me. I love my car and I can't afford to take it to the shop, and I hope its something I can do myself.
Anyway, I bought this 89 Prelude SI with 180k and a 5spd two days ago for a grand. It ran great drove great, and looked good. Today, I had an interesting problem start happening, and happening more frequently. I will turn the key to start the motor, it will start and then right after it catches it will just die down, like I turned the key off or something. If I start it, and I hold down the gas, it will rev fine, but as soon as I let my foot off the gas (even if I let it off real fast, and then hit it again) the engine will just die out like I turned the key off. As I am reading what I just wrote it is starting to sound like a fuel pump, or a relay or something. But back to my point, after I do this, say, 2 times, (it seems like its progressivly getting worse, now its like 3 or 4 times) it will start jump to about 1300 just like its supposed to, then drop to a comforting 600-700 rpm idle. I hope someone can help me, I love this car and I hope I can fix it!

Default Re: 1989 SI Starting problems (CarlsPrelude)

yeah sounds like you need to resoldier your main relay. Does it happen when the cars warm? If so this points even more so to bad contact's on ur main relay.
