Default Wastegate & Blowof Valve

I was told that you only needed one or the other. Is This true. Or do you need a wategate and a blowof valve.

My turbo has a wastegate actcuator on it but i planed on taking that off..If i do then will i need the wastegate. Or will the blow off valve work?

Srry for the NEWBlike question!

Default Re: Wastegate & Blowof Valve (99Sivic)

BOV's and wastegates are 2 totally different things..

Wastegate controls how much psi the turbo boosts
BOV lets out the air from the turbo after the throttle body has closed to prevent compressor surge.

If u take off the wastegate on the turbo u would have to an external wastegate..which would mean u would have to either but a new turbo manifold made with an external wastegate flange or modify ur existing manifold to work with the external wastegate...
