Which engine shall I choose?
I might be getting a '95 civic, but the engine has 100000 miles on it. So, I'm thinking of doing an engine swap. My question is, what is the biggest enging that would fit in that engine bay? I'm pretty sure a B18 would fit, but what about a H22 or something like that?
It depends on what you're looking for. If you want to get a cheesy engine that everyone has run a B16. If you want an engine that has a little bit of power but has a high rev go with the JDM Spec B16B. It has the highest stock rev out of all the engines. If you want something rare in a Civic with a lot of power go with the H22 Type-S. Not a lot of people have them but they're quick out the gate. You'll need mounts and make sure you have all of the parts. All the engines should be able to mount right in. The B18's aren't worth the money if they aren't Type-R. You should be smashing on people with ease with a stock motor.
B16=Cheap and good on turbos. Easy to fix.
B16B= Rare to see, high rev. Pricey, you could spend $300 extra and get a Type-R
B18= The Ls motors and the GSR aren't worth the money (honestly).
B18C5= The Integra Type-R motor is the best out there. Expensive but drops right in.
H22's=Expensive to install big as hell but stock will smash on a Mustang in a heartbeat. They suck gas like it's cool too.
Hope that helped. If it doesn't then check out http://www.totaljdm.com and get the specs for yourself.
