Default speaker question/

I just found 2 OPTIMUS xts9 stereo speakers in my basement which are about the same size as my stock speakers....can I ghetto rig these and replace my front speakers? If so can I use the stock speaker wire or do i have to replace the hole wire...there 8 Ohmos 50watts? is there anything I should know about this...that also have like mini subs with them too...which I would just jostle in there I guess...anything is grealty appretciated. thanks

no don't use them, your car stereo system runs off a four ohm system... also your front speakers are designed to handle a wide range of frequencies, where as your optimus speaker is probably a mid range. It will sound horrible.

not to mention...optimus is made by radio shack...they are crap. Heres what you can do with them.

Find two wires, stick each one in your outlet in your house, then run them to the speaker. Your house uses a 60hz (subwoofers usually range from 30-250hz) signal and its probably along the lines of a solid 1200 watts. It will excurt so far the cone will fly like 30 feet. Its really cool.

its 4 ohms....it says 25wx4 which I'm guessing means 25 watts x 4 ohms

no, if you can have your choice of one or the other. Running two speakers off one strand of speaker wire is called wireing in series. This creates a two ohm load. And you head unit will not last long at all when its put under a two ohm load (if at all) So the answer is once again, no dont do that. Now you could buy another amp and hook them up...

damn oh well....I guess I'll just give in a buy speakers and a amp.....I'm all about the ghetto DIY but this is just...not a good idea...I'll just throw these in my room for surround soud...boo ya
