FLAT BLACK!! In The Winter??
Im painting my car flat black this weekend, already sanded down and everything
I used my $1200 I had saved for paint for a vemon i/m, 66mm t/b and a direct port nitrous kit to add some spool to the turbo
I completely forgot about winter though
Its a canadian winter so theres a **** load of snow
Just wonderring if the paint is gonna hold or if its going to stain or whatever
Hope someone has some opinions
Thanks

The snow/rain is gonna seep through the paint into the body and start to rust..
You have to use some sort of epoxy sealer to seal the body from the moisture..and epoxy sealer aint cheap for a whole car..
Also the salt will eat through the paint like its nothing and probably make your car a rust bucket by the end of winter..
Either get it painted/clearcoated..
or Use epoxy sealer under the flat black paint..
or Just dont drive your car for the winter..

IMO, if you're worried about keeping a flawless appearance, then flat black is not for you.
It stains and scuffs alot easier than paint with clearcoat.

well, I went through a chicago winter and salt period wiht my flat white ef, other than the rust that had already started, it appears ok. I would also suggest using a sealer, house of kolor offers a base which acts as a sealer, white or black, its not that expensive. As well if you didnt sand through your old clear, you would be ok.

most old hotrods you see that appear to be flat black actually have a coat of clear on them but it is matte and doesnt have a gloss.
