Honda Civic
I've read in couple of posts that thieves like si and type r models, do they like Honda Civics, haven't seen any statistics showing 2004 Honda Civic being stolen that often.
Well, not in NY at least.

Probably not a huge issue...the newer model Civic's are not in very high demand as far as performance and such, which is the reason why Si's and Type R's are stolen so often. Wouldn't hurt to get a nice alarm system, however Honda did you the favor of making your car harder to steal from the factory than the older models through the use of ECU immobilizers, laser cut and chipped keys, and good factory alarm systems.

Crime statistics aren't out for 2004 yet. I think the latest release is for 2000 or 2001. The gov't and FBI take a while to collect and release data.

That doesn't surpise me at all.

I meant 2004 Honda Civic EX 2 DR (not SI or Type R).
I do have alarm on it, factory + an upgrade I had dealer install.
Well, I guess I am little relieved that new civics are not on the list.
I will still be precautios.
Any of you thinks, I should add more stuff to the factory + upgrade dealer installed alarm.
I know my current alarm doesn't have a pager, sensor or remote starter. I was thinking of those, but not sure if I should go to a local alarm installation place and install it there,
dealer's place is just too expensive and too much hassle.

They're not on the list, because there isn't a list with your car released yet. That doesn't mean they're not getting stolen; just that the theft statistics aren't released.

So does this mean you're running a factory alarm right now? The problem with that is they're all identical. The theives have had 3 years to figure out how to bypass the 7th gen alarms. An aftermarket alarm is only as good as it's install. Look into Clifford or CompuStar products, and make sure you go to a good shop.

Nah what you do is get the body molded as one unit shave the door handles(repaint car). Get airbags to lower the car when not in use so they can't put a jack under it. than get wheel locks.
Than get all the alarm stuff with immobilizers and that other fancy things. That is the way to go. I'm plannign to do some of that stuff to my car, it will cost but atleast almost guaranteed to have my car the next morning.
Oh, yah if possible park in a garage or find out where survaliance cameras are at work or parking lots and park in the area they are facing.

Oh I forgot don't park in a parking garage, i ment at home park it in a garage. The reason i say this is because my friend works security at one of the most popular malls in sacramento, Arden and said almost every car that gets broken into or stolen are the ones parked in their parking garages(odd, but true).
If your car is modded, I wouldnt tell many people about it. Thieves will take more modded cars as opposed to stock cars b/c its obviously worth more in the long run (they cant used the chasis).

of course he was kidding... and the 2004's arent as high in demand because people dont modify them as much as the older civics.
