What kind of Ecu for this badasss set up LS/VTEC
I dont know what kind of computer should I use for this kind of Motor..96 Ls Vtec with 11.5 compressioon and a b16 head with stock cams. Should I use a p72 or a p28 ecu...Every thing is obd1.. I heard a p28 chip should do it because it knocks the knock sensor ....??? What does that mean ??Do we disconnect the knock sensor.. Also do I need to disconect the vacum hoses from the intake manifod when runnig a p28.. Can some one help me out !!!!!!!!!!!1
ether is fine. The p72 is a gsr ecu I believe and the p28 is a civic (don't quote me on this). As far as the knock sensor, its pretty much up to your personal preference on wether or not to have one. If you get the p28 just don't hook the KS up. If honda KS's are anything like the one's in 300zx's (my previous car) they aren't very effective anyway. My 300zx one would only detect knock under 3-4k, when knock is more common at higher rpms. Just my 2cents.
Get a Hondata though!

P72 is a GSR. P28 is Civic EX chipped to run DOHC. I would go with the P72 and get Hondata. If you use the P28, you will not need a knock sensor. If you use the P72, it required. The knock sensor IS a big deal on Hondas. If left unplugged with
the P72, you CEL will come on. CEL = slight loss in power, due to ECU entering "limp mode". So its up to you if you want a P28 chipped ECU. Just remeber this, most "cheap" chipped computers do not run well enough, and remove the rev limit. The only way to assure yourself of what you have is go with a virgin P72 and get the Hondata S200 system. Hondata is a fully tunable chip. And we all know a dyno tuned engine will runn BETTER!

What a dumd *** I am.!!!! I forgot that I going with 310s RCs so I wonder what kind of chip should I get with the p28 set up...
p28 with hondata s100. That should take care of everything. I've never heard about a cel problem with p28's, especially since I tend to see chipped one's everywhere on honda-tech.
come on give him a break someone has too start somewhere..
you should have some good power with that setup but the cams are going too hurt you...
