Default axle extensions

Posted this in tech and got no replies, maybe someone on here can answer this

Probably been posted before, but i couldnt find it in a search. Is the cup on the end of the driver side axle extension, the part that the cv joint goes into, supposed to be loose? And same question for the passenger side. Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the rubber boot? That protects the cv joint from road crap, dirt, etc. By "loose," do you mean it's falling off? It's pliable, but shouldn't have cracks or be falling off. Replacements are $15-$20.
