air fuel ratio bounces
k in my freinds we were driveing and i noticed that his air fuel ratios are bouncing everywere from lean to rich to stock every were he has full 2 inch exhaust air intake and new rims and tires... why does it do this and cann i fix it and how
when i buy one is there one that will actually work cuz when he guns it it will go to lean then rich the rest of the time its so gay is there a brand i should buy or dont even bother
That is the normal operation for all narrow band AF gauges, it's called dithering. What you're seeing is the computer constantly adjusting fuel from rich to lean to acheive stoichiometric for idle and cruising speed. Now under load, it should read slightly rich and stay there for a bit before dithering. It may go lean first because of the sudden intake of air but then go rich because the computer is compensating. When the ideal af ratio is acheived it won't stay put in that area, it'll just dither within a shorter range. It's not that the gauges don't work, you just have to know how to read them. They are not as good as wide bands but at least they give you an idea of what ur mixture is like, wire in to your existing O2 sensor and are way cheaper. You can even build your own AF meter if you're savy. It's similar to a sensitive voltmeter.
