...that are tuned extremely safe? Let's say I push my B18B pretty hard, past the 300whp mark, with a very rich tune (11.1 or so), plenty of timing retard, and spraying a methanol/water injection setup to boot. The car shouldn't detonate and should have nice cylinder temps.

Will it eventually just blow the rings out and start loosing compression or will stress over time eventually snap a rod?

i say before anything, it tuned really really safe, the rod will snap from too much stress.
this is kinda what i'd like to do to, i'd like to see how much power the F23 can make on a stock block before something goes out.

Bump for this,

I'm also curious what is the first thing to submit to boost with a good conservative tune

Ringlands. On even the most ocnsertive tune, that seems to be the most commen failure. If you have a decent amount of hp, rods seem to be the next weekest link. Take your pick, the rod it self, or the rod bolts. jsut my .02 worth.

Pretty the same on all engines stock or not but.... id say these are the most common cause and reaction's;

Miss-shifting = bent valves

Bad tuning = broken ring lands

low oil = spun bearing

spinning rpm's too high = thrown rod

If you do break the rod that sucks, because most likely it will shoot through the side of the block. . .
I wanted to push my motor (high compression b16a) to around 300whp or more, but my tuner said that he didn't trust it on pump gas with the compression. I was, and kinda am still pissed I spent so much money and didn't break 300. . .My turbo setup is deff. looking to boost more.

Anyway, the point was, that If the stock motor blew up I wouldn't care, because I have a block coming from Earl with sleeves and everything. MAYBE I will decide to re-tune, and beat the **** out of my car and see what breaks first, the rods, ringlands or something along those lines.

ringlands and then rods, both due to too much hp/too high peak cyl. pressure.

Rings...it happened to me at 260whp, 250 wtq. Too much torque + questionable compression = disaster

On another motor I had rod bearings go because of a busted oil pump.

I also had 2 other motors succumb to NAWWWZZZ
