Default Highway driving

How many of you drive your ITR in the freeway a lot? Do you think that the sustained high rpms of going 80-85mph for 2 hrs will contribute to a noticeably shorter motor lifespan?

No, it's a honda.

I've sustained that for 18 hours a day, 2 days in a row more than once.

I'm at almost 70k and the car is still going strong.

the thing that will do even more noticeable wear are the short drives and the cold starts in winter.

how high do you usally rev on the freeway? I try to keep mine at or below 4kRPM... I was trippin when I first got the car cause I switched over from the world of rotarys for daily driving..(still have my FC race car =D .... when your stuck in that world for 5 years you hear bad things about pistons

Depends on how much joo willing to spend on gas

I have done a few 7 hour trips (avg 80mph) to the track, beat the **** out of it for 2 days, and then drive 7 hours (avg80mph)home. Just remember to check your oil often

Yeah I wish I could still keep those speeds up for such a long period of time, But with the oil comsumption the way it is I probably have to stop for oil before gas But the gas I don't mind spending money on

But thats all about to get fixed really soon ( I hope)

Can I get a fill up too then? Gas is even more expensive up here...

Highway driving is fine, you don't even have to touch vtec until like 105mph anyway... LOL I worry about my poor front bumper and hood more than my engine for my frequent highway drives...

I even uglied it up with a nose mask for a while, but even that doesn't save the hood...
