alright so... i have been having problems with cd players ever since i got my car. installed one wrong and it blew up (doh).. then purchased one from KarmaPolice and it didnt work, i didnt know why... recently i purchased one from another friend of mine with the harness already wired up.. i plug it in and.. no go. so im like wtf. so i plug it into blacksheep's integra and it works perfectly.

i was using a borrowed 92 integra tape deck/radio and it works fine (however cannot keep memory settings if the car is turned off for more than 15 min.).

what is wrong with it?

 

sounds like wiring. accessory power and main power wires may be mixed up... i had this issue in a 97 hatch.. sony harness power wires were set up backwards for some reason... worked fine, but memory would disappear when car was turned off... when i switch main pwer and acc wires, it worked fine....

but why would the stock one work but not the alpine? and why would the alpine deck work in another car?

what do i have to change if it is a wiring mix up

 

try swapping the accessory power with the main power....

 

to run a stereo you need ground, and accessory power. to keep memory you need main power. so one of these wires may be mixed up for some reason...
