Default Catco cat questions. Whoops.

After passing emissions with flying colors, my car recently threw a code for catalytic converter efficiency failure. I looked under the car to find out that after six months of no CEL, I never realized that I welded on the cat BACKWARDS.

Either way, I feel like an idiot, but I'm contemplating either welding it back the right way or removing it. Please help me with the following:

1) Did having it backwards (Exhaust coming in where it said 'OUT') hurt performance?
2) Do catco cats keep noise down at all? I've heard that they really don't help...
3) on a typical 160-170whp all motor 2.0 liter setup spinning between 7500 and 8000rpm, how much power is removing the cat worth?

Thanks guys. Happy revving.

taking it out will put out some noise. and if the car isnt turbo a good highflow wont be too bad on performance only a few to teh whp. not sure of the cfm rate of the catco cat but yea. i say either leave it or flip it around. if u dont care just leave it how it is.

I think it's too quiet as is. I'm running a dynomax Super Turbo muffler and a 28" glasspack with the cat. Heh.
