Yo,

It has just started today. I started getting a loud squeaking noise every time i start my car. Sounds like those belt noises: screeeeee- eeee eeeeek....but stops after a few seconds. ANyone know whats up?

 

How long has it been since you've changed the belts? This happened to me the other day as well. it began making a screech noise and then a snap, then it stopped. I looked under teh car because i thought something was stuck underneath, but then nothing was there. I opened the hood and found the fan belt had snapped. drove all the way back to my local repairman. it was like 5 miles away. with one more block to go, the car overheated and shut off. Maybe thats the problem. You should have your local repairman check it out. Hope this helps.

 

Another thing you can check is to drive and see if your engine temperature gauge goes up quickly.

 

Does it get more severe as you're accelerating? If it is, then it might be your timing belt.

 

it might be your abs system, happens to me when i start my car, but it makes more of a buzzing noise, if your abs light comes on, then its that.

 

i just bought the car about two weeks ago, and it didnt make any sounds....it ran perfectly smooth, and still does....


maybe four or five days ago, i start up the car (the first start-up for that particular day) and it screeched for about ten seconds then went away, and never made another sound for the rest of the day, not even during start-up.

But today i started up the car (initial start-up of the day)....No noise.....start it at school, no noise.....but then at work.....(I deliver wings, temporary job)..every time i started it up, it screeched for maybe four or five seconds then stops.....but if i tap the accelorator, to say about 1.8k to 2.5k rpms then it stops screeching, .....but it never screeches more than about five seconds, w or w/o accelorator

ABS light doesnt come on, temperature gauge doesn't come on...ummm...

...but if i let the revs down really low, like below 1000 rpms, like if i'm 10 mph in second or third gear in a tight turn (usually don't do so) it will BARELY screech......

nah, it doesnt screech much, if at all after start-up.

 

"temperature gauge doesnt come on"

-----i mean't the temp gauge doesnt rise quickly
