Default HID Question

I wrecked my accord (1996 Ex Coupe) and bought new headlights. My light spread is already shitty, I can't seem to get a nice "OEM" appearance of light distribution. Anyways, my question is can I get good results with these headlights if I install an HID kit in them or will the reflectors inside not be adequate to evenly give me good light output? I appreciate your help.

HID is just brighter light, in a regular fixture it makes a noteable difference. However I am not sure how much it would benefit you. If you just want light as you had before, my GUESS would be yes!

Some heresay you might want to look into: my friend lowered his integra, and his lights were awful (as he put it). he got his headlights adjusted. It made a big difference...

G-Luck....

See, I try once in a while to tweak my lights but I can't get it right. I know my lights aren't defective, they are stilll good. I should take them somewhere. Who would adjust them? Is that expensive?

try dealership. if they can do it, that means you just have to look for somone who can do it cheaper. Like i said in the post it is hearsay, so you might want to find out if it is even 100% true. I would call the friend and find out but he moved back home... (another country)

I put some HID's into my car. Stock lenses, like the pic you have. It still has the OEM beam pattern and I adjusted it. Light output is much better and I have no complaints at all.

What brand are those headlights? I have heard a lot of complaints about aftermarket headlights not providing good light. I would guess the headlights are you problem. Personally I would have looked for some used stock headlights as I like the stock ones with clear corners better than most of the aftermarket headlights out there and they work a lot better than most also.

I had the same headlights on my Accord with 4300k Philips HIDs. I used casper shields and the beam pattern was awesome.

The brand is Depo I think. The light output is decent I guess when adjusted properly. What kind of HID kit would I have to get, I want the low beam only kit. I figure even on the worst days HID low beam is better than stock high beam. Would I need the H4 or 9005 or H1 kit??? I have no clue since these are aftermarket.

I had the DEPO ones also and the quality was great considering they were aftermarket headlights. The headlights use H4 (low) and H1 (high) and come with these little harnesses that allow you to hook them up to your stock headlight harness. Most H4 HID kits come in lowbeam only which is what I had.

Thanks! I love the look of them, for them to be "just" headlights they really upgraded the look of my car. I know, all show no go, but hey, I wrecked it. I really want the Philips HID kit, probably the 4300K kit so I don't have a purple light coming out of my car, I think I'd get a headache from being on the highway for 8hrs looking at a purple glow.

What are casper shields and where can I find them? I just now read an old thread on this forum and it was talking about the quality of beam pattern. I don't want a scattered one, from the looks of the pictures I saw that is unattractive.

These are what casper shields are:

They basically cut off the light going to the bottom of the reflector housing which would then reflect up causing glare.

You can pick them up from some stores that sell HID kits or you can make your own like this guy:

Hope this helps guys!
