Default radio problems

I have a 98 civic, ex. My radio randomly goes through different stations and only turns on sometimes. If it stops at a station, it soon changes and does not stop going through the dial. I am wondering if this seems like a simple problem, such as a loose wire, or a major one that requires a new radio. Would it make sense to get it checked out or would that cost almost as much as getting a new one.

Make sure you have the radio code and remove it. Plug it back in and test all the buttons to make sure they are working and are not jammed and that it doesn't happen anymore. If it continues replace it.
