Distributor making funny noise
I have an H22A in my accord. The problem is I keep hearring an erradic clacking sound coming from the distributor. Symptoms are a diping idle but it never stalls, with a slight loss in power. But other than that the car runs fine. Can anyone help or warn me that something might brake. Thanks. Also it is an internal coil distributor.
If it is a bearing making noise you can hear "a scratch of death" soon. Very pricey sound though. Try to dissasembly the dizzy to see what's up there.
Pull the distributor off, making sure where the rotor pointed to. Mark the housing and the head with a pen to keep the timing.
Take it off and spin the distributor. It should rotate fine. If not, the bearing is going bad. Replace it now.
Mine seized and the cam belt jumped a few teeth. Much bigger pain to do a timing belt and distributor at the same time. Plus it died at a horrible time, had to tow the car home, looked silly.
